The firm of Grier and Reeves was formed on July, 1, 1962, by J. Marshall Grier, CPA, and William L. Reeves, CPA. Mr. Grier was resident manager of Harry M. Jay and Associates of Memphis, Tennessee, having moved to Texarkana from Memphis in June, 1951. Mr. Reeves moved to Texarkana in September, 1951, and was employed by Harry M. Jay and Associates. In June, 1962, Mr. Reeves and Mr. Grier withdrew from Jay and Associates. For a short time, Mr. Grier operated as an individual practitioner with Mr. Reeves as an employee. On July 1, 1962, the partnership was formed. After a brief time at 916 Main, Texarkana, USA, the firm relocated to the Texarkana National Bank Building. Mark H. Lawley, CPA, was employed by Grier and Reeves on July 5, 1965, and was admitted as a shareholder in 1977. In January, 1975, Mr. Grier retired and withdrew from the firm. He continued as a consultant for the firm until his death in 1978. Mr. Reeves retired from the firm in 1989 and continued as a consultant for the firm until his death in 1997. Renda Stuart was employed by the firm in July of 1994 and was admitted as shareholder January 1, 2008. Melissa Davis joined the firm in July of 1995 and was admitted as shareholder January 1, 2008. The firm moved to its present location at 3424 Texas Boulevard in 1985. Effective January 1, 1986, the firm incorporated its accounting practice and became Grier, Reeves & Lawley, P.C. Presently, the firm has eleven accountants and three staff support employees. |
